Overview of Malgas and activities

Malgas, situated on the banks of the Breede River is the perfect spot for weary city people who want a break from their hectic schedules.

Malagas, formerly called Malgas, is host to the only remaining pont in South Africa, which has been in operation since 1860. The pont is open to the public during daylight hours.

Sea and river fishing, salt-water fly-fishing, swimming, and boating are just some of the activities on offer in this still unspoilt piece of heaven. Fishing can be done all year round and you can flex your muscles a bit when trying to catch one of the local varieties. Be on the lookout for Spotted Grunter, Cob, Steenbras, Leervis, Shad and Barbel.

While it is as idyllic as it sounds, it is not too far away from civilization, with Swellendam a mere 30 minutes away.

Our two self-catering holiday houses, situated on the bank of the Breede River, offer our guests a haven of leisure and comfort. We are in close range of a convenience store as well as a pub; both are a 5-minute drive away.

The Breede River is known for the endless assortment of activities available:
